Ten people taken to hospital as Crieff Primary School remains closed following ‘chemical spill’

Ten people taken to hospital after primary school evacuated amid reports of ‘chemical leak’.

Pupils at Crieff Primary School were evacuated on Thursday and emergency services including police, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Scottish Ambulance Service and hazardous materials services were dispatched to the scene.

Ten adults were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee after an incident in which a staff member was left unwell.

Later, other staff members also felt unwell.

Perth and Kinross Council confirmed the school would remain closed as a “precautionary measure” on Friday. It is expected to reopen on Monday.

The council said it had found no evidence that leaks or spills may have contributed to the hospitalisations, but on-site testing was to continue.
