Last chance to get tickets to Pub Leaders Summit!

The Pub Leaders Summit is taking place next week in Sydney, September 9-10 at Waterview in Sydney Olympic Park. It’s not too late to get your tickets for this premier event for the food and drink industry.

Pub Leaders Summit 2024, hosted by McCAINS and Australian Hotelier, is just days away. At a critical time for the hospitality industry, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get fresh ideas for your business, experience new products and services first-hand, and connect with your peers.

Pub Leaders Summit 2024 will take place on September 9-10 at Waterview in Bicentennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park. There will be a half-day study tour on Monday, September 9, with a few spots still available. The full-day conference and roadshow will take place on Tuesday, September 10. Here are the reasons why venue operators should attend this premier event:

  1. Hear from leading industry representatives.

The Pub Leaders Summit will feature insights from a range of esteemed industry voices including Craig Shearer, Founder, Kickon Group; Paul Walton, Managing Director, ALH Hotels; Bianca Dawson, Training and Development Officer, AVC; James Thorpe, CEO, Odd Culture Group; Ben Stephens, COO, Solotel; Jacqui Corbett, COO, Momento Hospitality; and Jamie Gannon, Group Chef, Laundy Hotels.

These operators and many others will discuss their strategies, innovations, successes and responses to challenges on a wide range of topics – from marketing and HR to food and beverage and entertainment.

The full list of speakers can be viewed here.

2. Get an exclusive preview and visit innovative locations on a study tour.

The half-day study tour on Monday 9 September will visit the award-winning Log Cabin by Laundy Hotels – considered one of Sydney’s best pubs. The tour will also visit the much anticipated Oran Park Hotel by Momento Hospitality, which will be one of the largest hospitality developments in NSW. The hotel has not yet opened so study tour participants will be able to see what the hotel has to offer.

The final stop on the tour is Flight Club Sydney – a new venue created by NightOwl Entertainment. Flight Club capitalises on the trend towards social, competitive experiences that are popular in the US and UK, and are now making their way to the Australian market. Enjoy a game of darts, drinks and canapés at this final stop on the tour.

Due to limited space, Study Tour tickets are available to on-site operators only and must be purchased with your conference ticket. There are only a few tickets left for the Study Tour, so don’t delay and reserve your spot!

3. Analyze consumer spending and behavioral changes in detail.

Several sessions at the Pub Leaders Summit will focus on exactly how customer spending has changed over the past twelve months, how to counteract these changes to increase profitability, and where to find new opportunities to capture spend.

It will kick off with a keynote from Craig Woolford, Senior Consumer and Discretion Analyst at MST Marquee (formerly Citi Australia). The keynote, written by platinum partner Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, will look at the factors that will affect consumer spending in the coming year and will cut through the noise surrounding the outlook for current economic issues such as interest rates and tax. Woolford will also provide perspective on issues affecting pub revenues and profitability.

Other sessions, which will explore consumer behaviour using a combination of data, commissioned research and on-property experiences, will include a presentation on consumer expectations from Eleanor Knight of McCain Foods; a panel on dining experiences with Joshua Hillary (Solotel) and Jamie Gannon (Laundy Hotels); and a panel on changes in beverage consumption with Luke Redington (Momento Hospitality), Jimmy Curran (Kickon Group), Jodie Tiernan (Public House Albury) and Daniel McBride (Working Holiday).

You can find more information about these sessions here.

4. Strengthen your cybersecurity and prepare for a data attack.

Pubs collect significant amounts of data about their customers through marketing databases, loyalty programs, POS and booking software, and more. While operators have become adept at using this data, are you up to date on how to protect it?

Two experts will present on the topic, with Alex Hoffman of CyberCX starting by discussing the five biggest threats facing hospitality operators and the five most important actions you can take to secure your data. This will be followed by a presentation by Lauren Clancy, client partner and technology/cyber leader at Porter Novelli, who argues that a cyberattack is an accident When NO If. It will discuss how to best deal with a cyberattack, from implementing a crisis management strategy to the communications and interactions you should have with your customers in the event of an attack.

These sessions are not to be missed!

5. Network with industry peers and meet young talents.

The Pub Leaders Summit and Showcase offer several opportunities throughout the day to network with industry peers, including a Networking Drinks session presented by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners at the end of the conference, another opportunity to network and meet with peers.

The summit will also conclude with the announcement of the winner of the inaugural Australian Hotelier Future Leaders Scholarship, sponsored by Allara Learning and Carlton & United Breweries. Several finalists will be in attendance. This is a promising group of operators to meet at the event.
