Baldwin Wallace News features Medina County students

Students from our region were among 25 people who took part in the study abroad program run by the BW faculty in Germany in May.

Maya Stoffers of Brunswick, a graduate of Brunswick High School, and Margaret Houska and Ava Vazquez of Medina, both graduates of Highland High School, completed the three-week experience led by Dr. Amy Jo Sutterluety, professor of medicine, sports and wellness, and Dr. Andrew Dohanos, professor of communication arts and sciences.

The program allowed students to explore the theory and practice of intercultural communication through immersion in German language and culture. Students spent time in Berlin and Munich, where they visited German sites of global, historical, and cultural significance, learning how to stay healthy and practice wellness abroad.

The BW Study Abroad Center engages students through global exploration and off-campus learning that enhances personal growth, educational enrichment, and career development as part of the university’s liberal arts efforts to educate engaged and compassionate citizens. Through faculty-led and independent study abroad opportunities, students can develop strong communication skills, develop critical thinking, and self-confidence as they navigate the unknown.
