Hobart tops 21 degrees to record warmest day in weeks

Hobart has temporarily broken out of its recent cool spell and enjoyed its warmest day in weeks.

The city reached a high of 21.5°C just after 1pm on Thursday, surpassing the September average of 15.9°C for the month.

It’s the first time Hobart has topped 20 degrees since August 13th, when the city reached 21°C.

Last month, the average temperature in the capital was a 15.5°C.

Launceston and Devonport also experienced mild conditions on Thursday, with both cities reaching highs of 14.6°C and 14.4°C respectively.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting partly cloudy conditions with a 20% chance of rain for Hobart for the rest of the day.

Showers are forecast for Friday, with a possible rainfall of 2-10mm.

The start of the weekend is looking drier, with partly cloudy conditions and a slight chance of showers on Saturday and 70% chance of some showers on Sunday.
