Hobart hits 21 degrees, warmest day in weeks

Hobart has temporarily broken the cold wave and today is the warmest day in weeks.

The city’s temperature peaked at 21.5°C just after 1pm on Thursday, exceeding the September monthly average of 15.9°C.

This is the first time Hobart has recorded a temperature above 20 degrees since August 13, when the city recorded 21°C.

Last month, the average temperature in the capital was 15.5°C.

Launceston and Devonport also enjoyed mild weather on Thursday, with temperatures reaching 14.6°C and 14.4°C respectively.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting partly cloudy skies with a 20 per cent chance of rain in Hobart for the rest of the day.

Scattered showers are forecast for Friday, with possible rainfall of 2-10 mm.

The weekend looks set to start off drier, with partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of precipitation on Saturday and a 70% chance of precipitation on Sunday.
